چکیده
aim : to assess the complications of bile duct injury in laparoscopic cholecystectomy in loghman medical center, tehran. background : the incidence of complications of laparoscopic cholecystectomy has increased dramatically since the introduction and widespread use of laparoscopic cholecystectomy. patients and methods : from january 1998 to january 2002, a total of 155 laparoscopic cholecystectomies were performed at the loghman medical center. a retrospective analysis of complications including major bile duct injuries, cystic duct leakage, and bile duct strictures, was carried out. results : of 155 patients with cholelithiasis, conversion to open cholecystectomy was required in 20 patients (13%). there were 3 (2.22 %) major bile duct injury in laparoscopic cholecystectomy that required reconstructive operations at later stage. conclusion : laparoscopic cholecystectomy is an operation associated with low morbidity and mortality rate, but bile duct injury is still a major problem. clear demonstration of anatomy is the cornerstone of safe, successful laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Bile duct injury in laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Bile duct injuries in laparoscopic cholecystectomy are briefly reviewed. The Norwegian National Cholecystectomy Registry was started on April 1, 1993, to collect data from most Norwegian surgical departments. in the period April 1, 1993-May 31, 1995, common bile duct (CBD) injuries necessitating treatment were reported in 0.61% of 2,612 laparoscopic cholecystectomies and in 0.74% of 674 open ch...

Bile duct injury can occur more frequently during laparoscopic cholecystectomy than in open cholecystectomy. Three cases of common bile or hepatic duct injuries occurred in a series of eighty laparoscopic cholecystectomies; In case 1, the common bile duct was misidentified as the cystic duct. In case 2, bile peritonitis occurred on the fourth postoperative day caused by necrosis of the common h...
متن کاملIatrogenic bile duct injury during laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy has largely replaced open cholecystectomy as the standard of care for gallbladder excision. A major disadvantage of this trend has been the increased incidence of bile duct injuries, which, while uncommon, are significantly higher with laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Most injuries are not recognized at the time of surgery and present in a delayed fashion, leading to s...
متن کاملBile duct injury and use of cholangiography during laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
BACKGROUND Bile duct injury (BDI) remains the most serious complication of laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). A Swiss database was used to identify risk factors for BDI and to assess the effect of intraoperative cholangiography (IOC). METHODS Data for patients from 114 Swiss institutions who underwent LC for acute or chronic cholecystitis between 1995 and 2005 were used in univariable and log...

We encountered 10 patients with bile duct injuries during laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Their causes were electrocautery in 2 patients, misjudgment in 2, mechanical injury in 3, aberrant bile duct in 2, and weakness of the bile duct wall in one. The sites of injury were cystic duct in 4 patients, common bile duct in 2, aberrant bile duct in 2, common hepatic duct in one, and common bile duct pl...
